JOBU app privacy
Android app · Last updated: September 1, 2026
The honest summary: the app does not request internet permission. It technically cannot send anything anywhere — not to us, not to Google, not to anyone. Everything you record stays on your phone.
What data the app stores
In the device's own local database, and only there:
- Car setup: consumption in km/l, fuel price, maintenance cost per km and your daily profit goal.
- Logged rides: distance, fare received, platform chosen (Uber, 99, iFood or Other), estimated cost, profit and date/time.
- Shifts: start, end and the period totals.
- Bubble preferences: on-screen position, transparency and the last platform used.
What the app does NOT do
- It doesn't ask for sign-up, login, name, ID, email or phone.
- It doesn't request access to your location, contacts, camera, microphone, photos or files.
- It doesn't use ads, analytics, third-party SDKs or trackers.
- It doesn't read your notifications or other apps' notifications.
- It doesn't declare internet permission, so it sends nothing — including crash reports.
Permissions the app requests, and why
- Display over other apps (
SYSTEM_ALERT_WINDOW): this is the floating bubble. Without it, you'd have to leave Uber or Waze to do the math. - Foreground service (
FOREGROUND_SERVICE, typespecialUse): keeps the bubble alive during the shift. Android requires a permanent notification while that happens — that's the one in the status bar. - Notifications (
POST_NOTIFICATIONS): used solely to show that shift notification, mandatory on Android 13 or later.
There is no other declared permission. You can check the full list on the app's Play Store listing.
Backup
Google's automatic backup is turned off in this app. Your data does not go up to Google Drive. The honest trade-off: when you switch phones or uninstall the app, the history doesn't come along — export the CSV first if you want to keep it.
CSV export
The period screen has an export button. It generates a CSV file in the app's temporary storage and opens Android's share menu. You choose the destination — WhatsApp, email, Drive, whatever you prefer. We get no copy. Once the file leaves the app, it follows the policy of the destination you chose.
Tax estimates
The app shows estimates of the MEI's DAS and the self-employed reserve based on public tables. It's an estimate, not accounting advice: the rules change every year and your case may have particularities. Confirm with an accountant before paying.
Children
The app is made for professional drivers and is not directed at children under 13. We don't knowingly collect children's data — in practice, we don't collect anyone's data.
Your rights
Since no data leaves your device, there is no database of ours holding your information to access, correct, port or delete. To erase everything, just clear the app's data in Android's settings or uninstall it. Privacy questions: contato@jobu.com.br.
Changes to this policy
If the app ever starts doing something different — for example, syncing data across devices — this page is updated before the version that does so reaches the store, and the date at the top changes with it.
